Elder Pickett on a bus to Prague to fly home!
Monday we headed to U.H. for the day and spent the day
together for the last time as a district.
Tuesday we had a lesson with sister Dolninková who is
doing wonderful! We then had a lesson with a man named Petr, who the Elders
found last transfer. Petr decided he wanted to try praying on his own for a
bit, and so the elders let him do that. Well, he wanted to meet again and he
had a lot of questions about baptism! He felt that this was something right for
him and so he wants to be baptized! He accepted the date of December 30th! We
still have a lot to teach him, but he says he has really good feelings about
this! MIRACLE!!
Wednesday we had to get flu shots! So we headed to U.H.
and went to the doctors office there. We then started our exchange and Elder
Jarvis came back to Zlín with me!! We are from the same MTC group and so we are
both still new at the language and don't really know what's going on. Well, we
tried our best and ended up getting a phone number from someone! Our broken
Czech is enough to carry on a converation about the gospel! It was a super
interesting experience!
Thursday we had district meeting and then some group
finding after! We did a singing display in Zlín and ended up finding a new
investigator! His name is Mujmír and we set up a meeting for Friday!
Friday was really good because we were able to grab lunch
with a member! Brother Eckertt is actually from America and teaches English
here at the school. He is a super nice guy! We then had our lesson with Mujmír
today which went incredibly well! He has a really severe drinking and smoking
problem that he is trying to quit and we are going to work with him on that. On
top of that, he was taught all the lessons 15 years ago and loves our church.
He said he would like to be baptized and so we are working on a date that would
be best for him. It is going to be a lot of work with him, but he knows that he
needs to make some changes in his life. I am excited to work with him though!
At the end of our lesson he was crying and gave us both hugs. It was a great
reminder to me of why I am out here on a mission.
Saturday was another service day! We finished digging all
the holes for the rest of the trees as well as took out a few trees that were
dying! It is nice to be able to do some physical work every once in a while! We
then had sports night tonight where we played volleyball with some members as
well as an investigator that the sisters brought! It was super fun! We also got
transfer calls today and I am staying in Zlín for another nine weeks! Elder
Nielsen, who is from the group before me, will be follow up training me! It is
going to be crazy because we are both super young!
Sunday included correlation meeting as well as church! We
then spent the rest of the day inside because Elder Pickett needed to pack
everything up! He is headed home! It was kind of sad because it finally hit him
that his mission was over. He told me to enjoy all the experiences I have, even
the bad ones, because one day, it'll be over. I am super grateful for the
example he was to me and how much he helped me out with the language as well as
the adjustment to real missionary work! He is an amazing guy and is going to do
great things.
Thank you all for the support and I am super excited for
this next transfer!
